Karel De Gucht (VLD) heeft woensdag de ambassadeurs van China en Japan bij zich geroepen over de organenhandel die zijn partijgenoot Patrik Vankrunkelsven aan het licht bracht.
Ze beloofden het dossier van de senator te onderzoeken en het resultaat aan de minister mee te delen. Dat antwoordde hij donderdag op een mondelinge vraag van CD&V-senatrice Sabine de Bethune.
Vankrunkelsven meldde maandag dat hij undercover een nier, die afkomstig bleek te zijn van een jonge Chinese terdoodveroordeelde, wist te bestellen . De tussenpersoon bleek vanuit Japan te opereren, verklaarde Karel De Gucht.
