Good afternoon, everybody,

My name is Lizhi He. I am a Falun Gong practitioner since 1995. From July 20, 1999, the persecution of Falun Gong began in China, and one hundred million Chinese people were deprived of the right to practise Falun Gong that teaches the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

My wife and I decided to go to Canada. On July 8, 2000, we received the immigration visa from Canada. Before I prepared my move, I sent letters to my friends and fellow engineers in an effort to clarify the truth about Falun Gong so that they would not be misled by the lies and slanders against Falun Gong aired by the Communist regime's state media.

My deed was taken as an act of threatening the state security. I was arrested, and sentenced to three and a half years in prison after a show trial.

It's a long story to describe how the inhuman treatment severely ruined my health, and in February 2001, I was sent to the prison-affiliated hospital when on the verge of death. I was given 50 days' intravenous drips in the hospital. With a very poor health, I had been struggling to survive for 1280 days in prison the forced heavy slave labour, electric shocks, frequent deprivation of sleep and use of the toilet. Due to the damages to my lung, I still cannot make normal deep breaths.

The most painful memory was about my fellow Falun Gong practitioners who withheld their identities - names and addresses - when they were arrested for their efforts to appeal for Falun Gong or expose the persecution to the public. If their name and address were known, all the people in relation to them including their family members, colleagues in the workplace, neighbours in the residence community, would suffer harassment and persecution from the government due to the evil policy of "guilt by association." These practitioners suffered unimaginable violence and brutalities from the police.

Practitioners with known identities, only a small part of all detained, were transferred from detention to labour camps or prisons, Hundreds of thousands of practitioners still being jailed now, while all others, of whom the police failed the identification, were soon sent to unknown places, as heard from my detention, they were officially RELOCATED.

Like other imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners, in the very first week of being sent to a prison, I was given a complete medical examination including the blood tests. I was not aware of any evil purpose of such blood tests at first. In about June of 2001, a couple of months after I was sent back to prison from the hospital, due to my still very bad health and severe diarrhea from side effects of prescribed medicines, the policeman in charge of supervising me in the prison, tried to contact the hospital so to decide if the medicine should be stopped. To his surprise, upon a trip to the hospital, no record at all was found of my once being hospitalized and treated there. The doctors had nothing to tell him, and he was convinced that the hospital, where I stayed for 50 days and medical information was collected from Falun Gong practitioners held in that prison, actually had no control of the medical documentation of Falun Gong practitioners.

All these things remained no mysteries to me when the organ-harvesting crimes of Communist regime were known to the world in later years. It's been really an agony to figure out where the huge number of practitioners without identification were "relocated". They could have been killed by organ harvesting crime - the new evil ever on this planet.

Something more about myself.

I came to Canada after 3.5 years imprisonment in China. The Canadian government helped me a lot to reunite with my wife who also fled China. During my imprisonment, my wife and fellow Falun Gong practitioners made an SOS journey from Toronto to Ottawa via Kingston. Amnesty International Canada declared me as "Prisoner of Conscience" and launched a rescue campaign. The Parliament of Canada unanimously passed a motion by MP Hon. Scott Reid for rescuing imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners with Canadian family ties. Tens of thousands of kind Canadian people signed the petition for my safety and release. Today, it is another opportunity to express my thanks to Canada.
